Home Bargains help

Options
Please excuse this question - I know it's not related to Special Occasions or Celebrations but I just wondered if you could bear with me and help?

I must confess to being wildly jealous of all of you who frequently mention all the amazing finds you come across in Home Bargains. Through this thread I have discovered I live in the wrong part of the country (no Home Bargains, Ikea, Wilkinsons, Instore and sadly the list goes on!). However, my in laws have moved 'up north' 200 odd miles away and we are going to visit them next weekend. I am desperately hoping to slip away for a bit and visit a Home Bargains (looking at their website I think Eastgate in Accrington would be closest although there are a few others nearby).

Could you let me know what to expect - are the stores big and would I be embarrassed to take my snobby (sorry didn't say that!) step-mother-in-law with me? Is it easy to find my way around and how long could I spend in the store?! Also more importantly what sort of things should i be looking out for - particularly for my two girls (4 and nearly 7) and also items for hampers and craft things?

Phew, this has turned in to a bit of a long question but thanks so much for your help.

    My local hb is a relatively new store so is very airy clean and well presented. I'm not sure about older stores, but I'm sure they would all be similar. The stores are big yes, bit like a small high street co op size I suppose.

    You can quite happily take your family, no embarrasment I'm sure! I've seen all walks of life in my local one, and yes, you will spend ages in there!!!

    Happy bargain hunting.

    have you seen the Home Bargins thread on the Quick! Grabbit while you can forum?

    People are posting their finds there on a daily basis, so it gives you an idea what you can find at the moment for your two girls
  • Home Bargains is the greatest store of all time and I probably take ours for granted. However don't expect there to be bargains as they go quickly and it rather depends on what exactly you are looking for. If you do not live near one like my relatives do not, then it is quite easy to spend a lot of money. Ours has a huge craft isle and there are mega bargains to be had. My girls are 5 and 7 so I can confirm that you definately do not wish to let them any where near unless you have a full purse.

    Lastly, if it is christmas you have in mind, try not to go over the top, it is very veryu easy to do. I often go in for 1 thing and come out with 10 others:}
    Loving the dtd thread. x
