Credit Report Advice

Hope this is in the right place, would appreciate any advice.

I am thinking about applying for a 0% credit card but wanted to check my credit report first. Looking at the report, it shows an old credit card account with a nil balance, statues arrangement to pay, registered at an old address. I phoned the CC company recently (about a month ago) and asked for the account to be cancelled but this doesn't seem to have been fed through to the credit checking agencies - does anone know how long it takes this to happen?

In addition, neither my mortgage nor my graduate loan show up on the credit reports. I have never missed a payment to either and think that these showing up on my account would actually improve my credit rating. Can I notify the agencies about these so that they are included and do you think this would be worth doing?

Any help and advice would be apreciated :rudolf:

lenders generally update their files to the credit ref agencies once per month - your request might not have been passed on to them yet.

regarding your mortgage, not all lenders share their data with all credit ref agencies. my previous mortgage with bank of ireland never showed with experian.

with regards to new card application, if you still live at home with your parents, or with a partner, you can ask lenders to allow you to include their credit history, if yours is negligible - this is governed under 3dr party data rules within the data protection act.
Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)
