Advice on changing name on deeds and mortgage (Scotland)

Can anyone give me advice on the following...i currently have a mortgage on my home in joint names with my ex boyfriend whom i split with a year and a half ago. He agreed to remain on my mortgage as although i can afford to pay for it, in the eyes of the Nationwide i couldn't on my earnings. We now don't speak and i now want to change the joint name from his name to my new partners for peace of mind. I'm loathed to approach the Nationwide and have to explain this and wondered if i was able to just approach any new lender with competitive rates and basically re-apply for the mortgage in my name and my new partners. I'm not in a fixed term with the Nationwide so would have no redemption penalties. Any advice much appreciated.
