Hi, my husband has had a pension for over 20yrs, but it actually names his brother as the policyowner and my husband as policyholder.
I cancelled the direct debit to pension last week by mistake and they have written to his brother to tell him, even though we pay it every month. Apparently he gets other mail about it aswell.
I am worried this means his brother will benefit from pension even though we pay it. My husbands thinks his brother may have been some sort of guarantor as he thinks he was 17yrs when he took it out.
what could this mean. We will ring company tomorrow but I am bit stressed about it.

Are you sure its a pension and not another product, such as an endowment?
Pension contributions are a personal allowance and the pension holder is the policyholder. The fact you mention that he was 17 suggests it isnt a pension. You couldnt start a pension until 18 years old when it was taken out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
