    Although there usually is a "guarantee" of some description at the "maturity date".

    Depends on what the policy says.
    However if there is no money in the fund how are they going to pay you?

    I think you need to read you policy and see what it says particularly regarding
    guaranteees. I expect you can get that information on line.
    Do you know the name of the particluar fund?
    It might help if you posted it here.
    This seems to be the site but one would need to know the details of the fund
    to find out more.
