Stubborn grey areas!

I am seriously considering not coloring my hair anymore and leaving to go grey.
I can't tell whether my roots are grey, but I have stubborn grey patches that refuse to disappear when hair dye is applied.
Has anyone else choosen to go grey (or white) & if so how is the best way to go about it?

I did this 2yrs ago, I used to have my hair hilighted and I had been doing it for years.. so I decided to just let it go its natural way... I didn't do anything just kept it cut fairly short and let it grow out.... I looked a bit odd for a while but I was determined to bin the colour... I am really pleased I did it as now it looks fine , I have found it looks naturally hilighted with white and my long forgotten natural brown colour , several people commented on how natural the hilights look... I have seen lots of 'mature' women with their natural grey or white locks and it looks really good on them as long as its kept clean and shiny.... with a good 'cut'...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Well I'm still a relative youngster with early grey hairs. I don't wanna get it cut short as I am in the process of growing it. I too have dark brown hair, but no highlites. Gave up on chemicals a while ago and moved onto henna from Lush.0

I let mine go natural too. I've ony ever used temp colours on my hair so never really had a problem with regrowth, it's just washed out, but a few months ago I had a moment of madness and put another one on and it just wouldn't budge. Thankfully I've got a shortish bob so it didn't take long to cut out, but I've learned my lesson!
Anyway, I'm totally happy with my grey/silver/white bits, and yes, they look like highlights. I also have two big streaks at the side that were never going to look natural dyed but look great now.
Word of advice, try the Daddy-O shampoo from Lush. It's designed for grey hair and really brightens it. Smells fab too.0 -
There was a fantastic article in the mail (really
) about this, not so long ago. I was searching for it for you & came across this . It's not the article I was thinking of, but I think it refers to the woman who wrote the article, probably a plug for her book.
I think one of the suggestions, so as not to look to much like a badger whilst it grows out, it to have your hair dyed/highlighted to match the grey - as well as cutting it in a short a style as you can pull off.
I found my first grey hair at 14 - I'm still going to keep colouring for a while yet
