westninster council claim to have sent me 2 reminders and a summons none of which i have received, i made arrangements to pay outstanding amount without recieving these things but now find that i owe them even more money.
I appealed to their good nature but they basically said tuff is there anything i can do about these extra add ons which appears excessive as its almost 10% of my aunnaul bill, esp as 5% of my anunnal bill appears to cover none payment of council tax by other people.0 -
You need to speak to the council and see why reminders were issued - if payments were late and the reminders have been posted to your address then irrespective of receipt of the reminders then they have been issued lawfully (the council can provide proof of postage which is proof of receipt in law).
The balance due will be the outstanding council tax plus any court costs incurred.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
