  • Can she get help with her coeliacs stuff? I know it can be got on prescription, but that would be dependent on how much she'd get on one prescription charge ...

Check out the oldstyle board anyway. Some there have very specific dietary requirements and they still might beable to help you.

    Prescription?

I've never heard anything about help for those with coeliacs.

I'll have a trawl of the other board, thanks :)

Instead of getting a loan for the £4,000, why don't both of you get an Alliance and Leicester current account with £2,500 interest free overdrafts for 1 year.

That would basically give you a £5,000 interest free loan for a year.

I have a loan with Nationwide that is set to run for another 3 years. I am doing what I suggest above to pay the loan off ASAP and save about £400 in interest.

The debt is my own and not something that I wish to involve my girlfriend in. She earns less than I do and comes out with around £200 at the end of each month. I don't want her to get involved in debt whether her own or a part of mine.

I should note that my girlfriend has very severe Coeliacs meaning that a lot of what we purchase has to be gluten-free...Unfortunately, a lot of things which are guten-free are incredibly expensive (£2/kilo for pasta for example...I purchase my pasta in 5Kg bags for about £2.50).

Have you thought about getting a girlfriend without Coeliacs?

Would be alot cheaper! ;) :rotfl:

Only kidding! On a serious note, try the oldstyle board. I'm sure someone must know of/be in a similar position and maybe able to help to reduce your food bill a bit!
  • NTE,

Now: use the just received £1k bonus to reduce the highest APR - probably the overdraft - this month. Pay minimum payment on credit card + anything else spare.

Month 1: use your residual income to cancel overdraft. Pay minimum payment on credit card + anything else spare.

Month 2: use residual income to pay as much as possible on credit card.

Month 3: Recieve £2-3k bonus to totally cancel credit card.

Total debt gone in 3-4 months :)

Next bonus and all salary is yours to play with and save for deposit!

    Regards,
    John

My 7 yo nephew has coeliac and gets a lot of his gluten free food on prescription. My sis pays nothing as he is under 16 though. Perhaps your gf can have a word with her GP as she may be able to get some basics like pasta & bread on prescription. With a prepayment certificate, this should bring it down.

Try the coeliac society website too - my sis finds loads of useful info on there.
