On a tangent with the original post, of course if you take a reduction in salary which is what is being negotiated by many employers (rather than redundancy) because of the current economic situation, active members of 'final salary' type schemes in those circumstances would need to take consider the impact on their pensions.

If you go back to the first reply, Jem was correct - in the end it depends on each scheme's rules and how they are interpreted. And if there are various ways of interpretation, then it will be the trustees who have the final say.0
