in Cutting tax
not sure if right place but can anyone help.
Daughter has worked for 4 months but was still on 603L Wk1 tax code. Seh has now started new job and eventually she has recieved her P45 form old employer.
Part 1A her copy is fine, shows 603L X ( which I believe means wk1 basis) so thats ok. shows her pay and tax deducted.
Part 2 and part 3 for her new employer only shows the 603L X.........no previous employment pay details. Is this normal because she is still on WK1 basis? or has her old employer just not filled it in ?
she is now on BR code with her new employer so want this sorted as quickly as possible and tax office said this week they have her details sorted so hopefully once new employer does their bit she will just be 603l and get back the tax she has overpaid.

Yes, this is normal for a P45 not to show the previous earnings and tax paid if on a week 1/month 1 basis.0

thank goodness I asked before getting her to ring old employer to complain lolTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Her new employer should be using the 603L week1 code for her wages, not a BR code. They should send part 3 of the P45 to their tax office, this tells the tax office where she is working now and they then send the new employer her correct tax code and details of previous pay and tax on a P6.0

thanks Chris, yes I thought they should have given her a P46 as well, she has only completed her second week so maybe they are just behind lol
Oh well all money she will get backTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Quickest way to deal with this get her to find out her current employers Tax ref and the number of the tax office they deal with and ring them herself, make sure before she rings that she has details of how much she has earned from April this year , previous employers details( from her copy of the P45 she gave in) and her NI number. They will take down all the details and they will send her current employers (and her) a new notice of coding.
I always find the best way to sort PAYE problems is D I Y.
Best times to ring before 9am and after 3pm you usually get through very quickly0
