One thing you can use to clean the scummy deposit left on the bath is a drop of shower gel on a damp cloth, cuts through it like a hot knife through butter.

Totally agree with everyone about microfibre cloths - fantastic! I hardly use any 'cleaners' as such now - love my spray soda crystals, white vinegar and lemon juice, but I'm not convinced by white vinegar in the wash - has no effect on my clothes, but live in a very hard water area. I use my microfibre cloths for damp dusting and I think it makes it much easier. Also use it damp on the tellys. My friend couldn't get her posh Smeg cooker clean at all and had used a 'commercial SS cleaner' (baby oil as far as I could tell) so as she was heavily pregnant with no 3 I said I'd try. A bit of kitchen paper and some white vinegar and 10 minutes later it was spotless with no smears at all - felt very chuffed with myself! She was pretty pleased too. I use Bar Keepers Friend (an abrasive powder) when I need something a bit abrasive, but generally don't use it much now.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Borax and denture cleaning tablets!!

I use denture cleaning tablets once a week in my loo to keep it sparkly clean and get rid of the limescale.
