Can I do anything about this?

Having read a previous post about being given the wrong information on the phone by the bank mortgage advisor I feel interested to see if my case is similar and if I could take some sort of action.

A few weeks ago, nearing the end of our fixed rate, I phoned our bank to see what they could offer me. I told them I didn't want an arrangement fee as our mortgage is just under 58k ( paid 2k off the balance when fixed deal ended.) The female told me a few options and I told her I was interested in the tracker as long as there was no arrangement fee. She sent out the paperwork which could be signed and sent back or I could phone and verbally accept the new deal. I phoned and the girl was unavailable so I spoke to a young man who could not find the same deal on my files to which I told him I had it here all written down in front of me. I was told the girl would be best to deal with me as she knew and sold me the deal. 3 days later she rang, told me it was a processing error and I could only have this deal if I paid the £1000 arrangement fee. I felt conned but thought there was nothing I could do. Meanwhile we discussed again new options and I was sent paperwork for the deal I specifically didn't want so once again they've messed up. Can anyone tell me if I could demand the first deal I have the paperwork for or is it asking too much?

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

Leanne

You would be lucky. Unless you have an offer from them, a KFI is pretty much meaningless. They all say they are only valid at the time of issue - something they would use to fall back on as an excuse as to why the product isnt available.

Best you can do is complain, claim for your phone calls / extra interest incurred for the wasted time etc.
