Sadly not a MMR pig...

Just a note about the MMR Pig. I think it's reasonable value, bearing in mind it's in 14 programmes and is the show's emblem. It does it's job visually and is a major talking point on these forums. And if there's another series, it'll become even better value. Like the programme's opening titles and graphic devices. Initially expensive, but the more you use them, the more cost-effective they become. And no doubt the same applies to the presenter!!!!0

I can't see where the pig opens up to be emptied after each prog - how is it done?0

Personally I think £19.99 is a reasonable price for a pig that size0

If you watched MMR 3 Martin and Jenni Cross are sitting at a green garden table and Jenny rams the money in so hard the money falls through and pushes the plug out of the bottom, and the money falls out on to the table. Martin and Jenni carry on talking as if nothing has happened.
When filming ours (MMR 4) Gregor the Producer/Director asked me about the hammers in my workshop, I asked if I could smash the pig with the big one, he then let on about the price. Shortly after Martin drops the pig and breaks off one of its front legs, this was quickly stuck back with some double sided tape borrowed from the sound man Chris. I never did find out if the tape is still holding it together. That must have been the stunt pig.
Oh we had some fun doing the filming. sometimes I wish we could do it all over again......
Martin? How about putting some outtakes/bloopers on the website?

For the price it cost, i would have thought it would have been armour plated. :rolleyes:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The point is though that a cheaper (quality) alternative could easily have been used which achieved exactly the same end.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Although I'm not an employee of Unique Factuals, I can say I'm sure if they could have 'easily' found an alternative which 'achieved exactly the same end', they would have done. Nobody in TV these days spends a dime unless they have to - trust me on this!0 -

Gaz
Martin does say somewhere on this board that he plans a short video clip of the out-takes, adults only viewing though, for some strange reason
I priced the little plastic pigs in the Royal Bank of Scotland, £2.75 but you would need to remove the RBS logo0 -
At the end of the filming and editing of the series, we have a 'wrap' party - I edited together a short sequence of 'funnies' and Martin noises (he has an ENORMOUS repertoire, let me tell you) that Kate and I found during the edits. It is this that Martin says he'll post here.
As for the 'adults only' tag... there are far more clips I didn't include that would attract that tag. Including one in the jacuzzi at Gatra's (!) re shrivellage, and one 15 min segment at the end of one of the day's filming (Norris's, I think) where Martin was attempting to do a piece to camera but the Norris's outside light wouldn't play ball. Maybe 15 takes in all? Martin took it all in his stride, you'll be pleased to know. Anna (the producer) and I were on the edit suite floor with laughter though. Sooooeeeee!0
