Craft Ideas - Babys 1st Xmas

Hi,
One of my best friends had a baby girl in Feb this year. I am trying to think of things I could make that could be kept for years to come. I am buying usual toys etc for the baby but it would be nice to create a more sentimental gift for the babys 1st Christmas.
Only idea so far - Cast of babys footprint ( I babysit so could be achieved). Not sure what I would need to do this!!?? Fairly basic idea but not the most creative!!
Any advice/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

What about making some nice tree dec's you could do baby's 1st Chistmas or name and age then you could do one each year??
Love the footprints, I'm sure Argos do a kit, or there is a poem about hands that my little one did in nursery (will have to dig it out for you, unless someone else knows it) All you do is 2 hand prints in paint onto the paper/ teatowel/ card etc..
I have a stocking that my Mother made for me when I was 3 (I'm 29 now) It has my name on and the year it wsa made, I still put it up now.
HTH
PS will dig the poem out a bit later:D:D:D:D

Here;s the Poem that goes with the Hand Prints
My Handprints
There used to be so many
Of my finger prints to see
On furniture and walls and things
From sticky, grubby me.
But if you stop and think awhile
You’ll see I’m growing fast
These little moments disappear
You can’t bring back the past.
So here is a small reminder
To keep, not throw away
Of tiny hands and how they looked
To make you smile someday.
My sons was done on a stiff piece of card, but you could do it on nice card/ paper and frame it, or ona teatowel(but not sure how you would do that one sorry):D:D:D:D

My daughters creche did one of those when she was about 2 1/2 and when i read it i had tears come to my eyes.
Its a really poignant poem and i still have it framed and hanging up now and she is almost 8.
Any mother would love to receive that and its a lovely keepsake.0 -
Similar to other poster, I've bought a cheapie canvas and some silver kiddie paint and am going to put my boys handprints on it with this poem (nicked from someone on this board
)...
These are our/my hands
And they will do
A thousand loving things for you
And when we/I am big
You will recall
That really once
We/I were/was so small
It's for a pressie for the OH

Hi,
just an idea, it was recently my god daughters christening and i made her a scrapbook. It had the events on the day she was born, people she shared her birthday with, 12 photos, one of each month of her first year, songs with her name in the title, poems with her name in, and a page of photos of her mummy and daddy!0 -

For my 1st neices 1st birthday my MIL did her a scrap book. She had pictures from the day she was born and then a mini family tree (just intermediate family) then had pictures of mummy, daddy, nanna and pop, granny and the 4 sets of aunties and uncles
She also had a page to bath time (very early), first hair growth, her and her best friend (the dog), her favourite toys (her 2 cuddly toys she takes everywhere) and her first steps / words.
Its gorgeous and a much more personal version of a baby book. Plus its completely customised!!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
