just bumping this bk up incaanyone can advise me on the overtime situation....thanks ,em
  • Hi Ems08

I so hate my laptop & bb, I've just typed out your reply & lost post when I submitted. So here's goes again.

I have no experience in br protocol, so there maybe others who can give you a def answer.

I have had some dealing with the CAB for myself & friends over the past. One thing that we have been advised re OT is that if it is not guarented then it is best not to use in in an I&E. If it is used then you (OH) don't get any ot then you will be short that month.

You have stated that your OH's training has now finished which will mean the ot will possibly dry up. If I was in this situation, I would base my i&E on basic guarented salary, then advise OR that there is the possibility of OT and keep him / her informed each mth. That way if it does dry up, or is stopped, it will not be a great shock.

HTH and someone can clarify this for you.

yes i would go with what miss sp says too. The other side of the coin is that the OR would appear to no longer be dissolving IPA's. So say you base you i&e on OT and get an IPA,then the OT dries up and you notify the OR,the best you can hope for would be a suspension of the payments until such a time as your income may go back up. This would mean you would have to keep the OR informed for the whole 36 mths that a IPA runs for.
Now if you base your i&e on basic wage and no IPA is implemented your OH may actually be allowed to do a little OT without the OR being interested in it. Therefore if by the time you get discharged no IPA, your OH will be free to do whatever hours he feels he wants without fear of the OR wanting his cut.Dx

  • Hey, fellow tall girrrl! I have to be honest, I can't see the OR going for £120 on clothes just for you, hun! (I WISH!!!:D) I'm 6ft with size 10 (eur 44) feet, and my clothing allowance is £30 pm - approx £400 a year. Shoes are the killer, tho, aren't they? What size are you? Maybe we could do some swapping??! Seriously, it's a case of looking everywhere in the sales and saving up. Absolute nightmare . If I had my way I'd give Imelda Marcos a run for her money, but it ain't never gonna happen. Ebay's useful! And Dotty P's tall range (although limited). Anyway, getting way off track. Let me know if the OR allows £120! Take care, CBx

    Hi ems,

Just wanted to say we were allowed £120 for clothes for me, hubby and a two year old. We both need suits for work and did say that, but he allowed it no problem, so never say never! =]

  • Hi Ems,

Ooops! I thought you were really going for it on the shoes there!! :rotfl:

Is the SOA just for you? Cos if so, I think the clothes allowance should be yours only, otherwise they get confused (like I did - lol). I think clothes is counted as a personal expense, like your mobile, haircut, dentist and glasses. I might be wrong tho - or it may not matter that much! CBx

Okay, if it is just your clothes surely she has to buy her childs? I am a single mum so no hubby to buy my sons, so his is included on my clothing allowance.

Or is it that they expect the OH to pay for the childs things? Just thought I would ask, as bit confused with this now.

When the OR asks for payslips it is usually the most recent one,so if your OH has stopped his OT by then it will show his true wage. There are lot of posters on here that work OT to try to service their debts but find the hours are affecting their health,so you won't be the first the OR has seen to cut their hours back to normal post bc.If you explain at the interview then it should be fine. The OR can not make you work more hour just to obtain an IPA,bet he wishes he could;) .You have to fill in your SOA in as it is on the day of bc so if your OH is still doing OT you will have to put that down but explain at the interview.Dx

hmmmm im confused too.....we are both going BC and i will no longer be earning as im loosing my job through it , so my husabands wage will be our only source of income.

can anyone clear this up......do we both put our outgoings the same and include the 3 of us in everything as i have in housekeeping......or do we have to work it out for us as individuals including half each for our son ? ........if thats the case then i wont be able to afford anything as i have no income.
also......on the petition is asks for other contributers to the household.....would i put my hubbys full wage on there or just half of it ......god this is confusing .....why dont they do joint BC for married couples ...it would be so much easier.:confused::confused:

oh and dalip....i was wondering if they could make hubby do OT for an IPA..... but like i said it isnt always available....so i suppose they cant....and yeah he is suffering 72 hr weeks have really knocked him 12 hours a day for 6 days a week...and on occasion 80 hours:eek:

    thanks guys......em xx
