Pepper Mill

I'm after a pepper mill that can grind peppercorns nice and finely.

The one we've got at the moment just about cuts them in half and hubby is forever moaning about it.

Thought I'd stick a decent one in his xmas stocking for a laugh.

Can anyone recommend a decent one at a reasonable price?

try tk maxx they have hundreds of the things in the kitchen section, just come back from there tonight

  • Trouble is, these things aren't really branded - I got mine from TJHughes, and they had a battery-powered one too! Mine was £3.99, tall, acrylic and with a matt chrome top, husband made me go back to buy the matching salt grinder

I bought one last Christmas and already have the same problem as Purplepatch. Now I buy the pepercorns already in a grinder from Schwartz or similar. There are some lovely combinations such as peppercorns and garlic, or peppercorns and chillies etc. The good thing is the attached grinder works very well and you can throw it away when finished and get another one. Probably not the cheapest method but I'm sold on it now.

Last year I bought a pepper grinder from Boots. Its a Jamie Oliver one and was a fun gift for my husband. The pepper grinder was designed by Vik Firth, who designs drumsticks, and my husband is a percussionist. The grinder can be used one handed, and its been used almost every day for a year and looks good as new. I got mine for £5 in the sale, but I believe they are £10 in the buy two get one free range at Boots.

Coleman & Mason are a very good brand & sold in most decent stores, including department stores. I've bought these as gifts before.

Or I can recommend those sold by Habitat, having been bought a set from there by my mother about 10yrs ago & still in daily use.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I use a Coleman & Mason battery Peppermill. £30 but worth the money. It lasts for ages on a change of battery (6 of them), and you can change the coarseness/fineness of the grind easily.

I found mine fantastic. I don't use salt at all, but I coat all my food with tons of black pepper!
