  • Different strokes.

OH and I were in Bond Street station shopping centre at midday on Saturday a couple of weeks ago and both very surprised to see way fewer people than we're used to.

Lunchtime on a Saturday in central London and there were no queues, no noise, no one shoving past us on the streets - it was great!

It's an area I visit often (particularly Selfridges) and the difference was noticable.

Then again, it's only London, the beating heart of the UK's economy...

Ed's not the only one to get out into the real world. I even ventured into Knightsbridge if (that counts ;)) yesterday afternoon.

There were loans of poorly dressed people without shopping bags, wandering through Harvey Nicks, Jaeger and Burberry in search of a cheap (£0) thrill.

And I also spotted huge numbers of construction workers, for a Saturday, at

    One Hyde Park

I wonder why Candy & Candy are so keen to get these properties finished and on the market ASAP.Could it be that they've been having a spot of bother shifting 320 £10m flats down the road in Chelsea? :rotfl:

May 2007 - Sheik pays £100 million for a One Hyde Park off plan flat

It's best to point out, for those of you with a spare £100m stashed away, that you need to book an appointment in advance to discuss purchases at One Hyde Park.

I wouldn't want to be the cause of a wasted journey ;) .

Buyer forfeits deposit on a £33m Candy Bros Knightsbridge flat

What's £3m between friends in a falling property market
  • In the recession of the early 90's the south east was one of the worst affected regions. By the end of it, it had an unemployment rate higher than Scotland and the same as Wales and Yorkshire and Humberside.

Aww, I saw this thread on the first page, assumed it was new, and was ready to congratulate Really2 for remembering the long lost password.

    What a let down :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
But it does show the extent to which things have changed in such a short time.

    That's so right!

I was looking at this and thinking: 'What are these guys talking about?' before I saw the date. Four months is a very 'long' time in terms of events, in this economy.

    One of my old threads.:o

Intrestingly enough now the media coverage on the actual job losses and closures etc. Does actually seem to be less now, I can remember people getting interviewed outside banks and 10 min news articles etc. now its just oh and Acme have mad 5,000 redundant.
Is this because it is now old news or just because of the original point who knows.
