Tested mine out - it works with my boys' ipods. Will wait for my other one to come next week and test that too though. Thanks again to OP. What a neat little thing. For the price - its great. x0

Its interesting...I've just been reading another answer to a thread I asked in the Techie section about the 4g ipods and a docking station I purchased for my daughter. I couldn't understand why the 4g ipod would just play through the speakers, and not charge the ipod. Now I have found out that Apple have changed the way the new 4g ipods are charged....(now through USB??). So, even the old Apple ipod docking stations may play the new ipods through speakers, but they won't charge them.......? Does this play.com one just play then, and not charge?? Sorry - I know you are saying it works with the 4g, but are you sure it is charging as well?
I am getting well confused!! (it doesn't take much!) Sorry!!
I have one of these and a new 4th generation iPod Nano and it plays through the speakers and charges at the same time. When the iPod is switched off a big battery symbol comes on the screen and it says charging. I agree about the distortion at higher volume levels, but I only want it on fairly quiet so I don't wake my daughter up in the mornings so it's fine for me.0 -

One thing to bear in mind about the Ipod touch V2 is that it may not charge or replay in a docking station as I found out with another docking station that came with attachments for various ipods which work fine in ipod mini and ipod touch v1 (with latest firmware) but not in v2 with same firmware I believe they changed the pins of at the bottom whilst it may connect it wont change or replay. The docking station I have not this model comes with various attachments for different ipods, all it does it make ipod fit, the issue is not because it fits snug but more to do with pins in the ipod have changed which allowed a extrenal speaker and charging. Again V1 Itouch works fine V2 doesnt so make sure it says it supporst V20

Eek - when you say v2 do you mean the 2nd gen? Does that mean a 2nd gen wouldn't work in eg my logitech mm50?! Anyone know? It is to do with the voltage thing I read about?.0 -
Well it's ok if you want a sound like an alarm clock radio and I suppose I couldn't expect more for the price but went into Currys this weekend and the Bose Sounddock has a simply outstanding sound. yes, it's a *teeny* bit more expensive but oh so worth it! Just have to find some discount codes before I purchase!
btw, this worked perfectly fine with my 3rd gen nano.0 -

Not as such, as the shuffle doesn't have the iPod port as the others do. You need one with a line-in connector and get a mini-jack cable to connect the shuffle headphone out to dock line-in.0 -
rsykes...thanks for that info. Can you point me in the right direction for one of these?technology isnt my strong point0
