Gutted I lost a win!

My local radio just rang me up, I had won tickets to see Elton John, but because in the household, we have won over £100 worth in the past 6 months, I can't have them!!!
I personally have only won about £50 worth, but they count everyone in the household.
Why not tell me that before I enter, not when I win?!
Grrrr

    Sorry to hear that
  • I've had a good look through the t&cs and this is the only thing I can find.

2.6 A person or people at the same residential address may not win more than one prize valued at £100 or greater (subject to each individual station’s discretion) within a one year period following the first win, nor shall any member of such person’s family residing at the same address (including, but not limited to, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc.). GCap reserves the right to withhold prizes from any such person.

But to me it sounds like you and people in your house can only win one prize valued at over £100 a year. Whereas all ours have been little wins, not any big ones. Or am I being stupid?

What a stupid rule - and wht ring you to tell you you'd won but they weren't going to let you have it, that's just cruel !!

Yes... it sounds like that... you have to win more than £100 worth in one go surely?

    .... bar stewards :(

I'd have been so so gutted

  • i would contact local paper and tell them about how miserable the local radio station is. seems a stupid rule that your household cant win over £100 in 6 months. what can you get for £100 now. not much

It is quite common rule over all radio stations, just to give other people chance to win. Personally i think it is a good thing. Mind you though calling you just to tell you that you have won but cant receive the prize was really mean.
Hope you will win something nice instead.
    Good luck :)

How gutting for you! Why on earth did they have to call you and tell you that!

It says in the t's and c's you quoted it's at the stations descretion, so I think that they were just being down right mean, poor you!

I certainly hadn't seen that rule anywhere and will definitely take it in, as my local Gcap is Wave105 and I have already won a Meal for two and a DVD from them so I must be close already
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)
  • They didn't know until they asked me what we had won from them in the last 6months.
We've never had this problem before, I'm sure adding all the little things together, we wouldn't have got our last prize from them. :S
Maybe they're just being mega strict because the tickets are worth between £80-£160 for the pair.
I got so excited when the phone rang and they told me I had been chosen.
