tax code help

i need some help with my tax code i think its wrong.

im a store manager earning £20000 per annum my tax code is 378L
why does everyone elses seem to be 603L??
i have worked in the job 5 years i did pay less tax last month when everyone changed to 603L
i just cant understand why mine is different any1 help?

  • If your code is lower than 603L it could be due to a number of things including
    - underpaid tax in previous years
    - you are in receipt of benefits from your employer (i.e. company car, BUPA cover etc)

    You will need to contact HMRC for the answer to this, their phone number maybe on your payslip (if not ask your employers personnel department for the number), if you have trouble getting through to HMRC, try calling them in the evening (most call centres are open until 8pm).

    Let us know what HMRC say, and we will be able to offer further advice.
