Hi, Have just completed my SOA - bit of info....i'm currently on mat leave hence my wages are classed as benefits, 3 kids in house aged 7, 19months and 6 months...both youngest still in nappies and baby on formula milk so higher housekeeping figures..some figures where advised by CAB like the leisure time, gifts and clothing. Mobile is for 2 phones one contract one payg. petrol high as we have a guzzling 7 seater..needed a bigger car when ds3 came along (very unexpected!!) as our fiesta couldnt take 3 car seats/booster..no hp etc on this as we did a straight swap for a 53 plate fiesta to an R reg bus!! erm...what else....DH works nights so has car at night and i use for school runs /hospital during day (both youngest were born with med conds needing recurrent check ups)....my mat leave finishes in dec, due to med conds its not poss for me to go back so will be looking to claim housing benefit at that point (private renting)
anyway now ive waffled enough....pick away please!!!

Can you renew contract on mobile phone - you can often get it cheaper if current contract expired.
I'd seriously consider contacting the Consumer Credit Counselling Service who would be able to advise you better. You have a lot of debt without money to pay.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -

Okay that is what I think others may think otherwise here but I know what I have read here and what is seldom allowed.
School dinners by one can be added, £5 per week by one (7) out of school activity.
Think you need to look now and see what the difference is

If the mobile is contract I think that if you go BR the OR can cancel it any money owed falls into your BR
Yes there is a shortfall airwolf but some things here wont be allowed by BR or and IVA either. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
With some Local Authorities, if you go bankrupt, they will actually write off all the current financial years council tax, some will only write off to the date of bankruptcy too. I used to work at one which wrote off to the date of bankruptcy, yet a neighbouring one wrote off/included in the bankruptcy all the financial years council tax.
However, as Rylynn says, there are some things listed on your SOA that needs looking into. I used to be a debt recovery officer for a council and we ignored luxurious (sp) items, such as Sky/Cable etc.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
SAdly the OR wont allow them or ignore them. What you mean I could ring my council and say can I have my money back for Council Tax.. that would be good.. but I am sure that is not what you mean. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0

thanks for those...
mobile phone just out of contract (9/10) havent renewed as yet. Really £20.00 for 2 mobiles??!!
would internet be safe if used for DS1's homework? have got virgin media so its a package of phone/tv/internet costing usually bout 48.00 p/m
clothing figure of £700 per year advised by CAB - just worked down monthly.
other child exp - have included school meals, school trips and pocket money in this figure as per CAB
medical inc contact lens and any poss prescriptions for dh.
again the presents/leisure time was advise by the CAB!
the CAB had told me as well to 'sell' the car to a family member which, after seeing lots of posts on have decided not to. It seems to me that they have not given us the best of advise....will have to contact cccs 2moro...quite scared now cos have not been paying bills to save the BR payments (me & DH going BR) getting default notices from every angle and have turned the ringer off home phone cos of the constant calls...another sleepless night ahead...going on your knowledges could they say not to go BR????

It would be nice! No, basically if that particular council wrote off the full amount owing for the current financial year (if one went bankrupt), at least it gives you a breather until next April. If the council just writes off to the date of bankruptcy, they work out what you should owe from the date of bankruptcy until the end of the financial year, and payments start again!!My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
In response to OP phone question...
I'm with o2 for my mobile phone. Renewed my contract 6 months ago, now paying £15 rather than £35pm, and getting about 600 txts and 500 xnetwork minutes every month.
As said, contact the CCCS and get their advice. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
Think CAB have given you some duff advice in some areas. £30 for two mobiles may get past but not the amount you have I am only going on what people have said here.
OR will most probably NOT allow pocket money but you can add an out of school activity a member here suggests £5 per child. But you have babies they grow very fast and I am sure most people here would say to up it.
RL
Interent we all agree should be allowed for kids but the OR may not see it the way we all do here. Do you need it for work as that will be allowed I think.
The clothes are too low, I put 100 for me and 14 year old son who is in mens clothes and shoes, OR may reduce it will face that at the time. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
Hi skintmumma, i took advice from the CCCS and they advised me too go into a 10 year DMP that wasn't realistic or an IVA that again wasn't great advice, previous to that the CAB had told us to go BR, which we are in the process of doing.
So all i'm saying is don't take what the CCCS or the CAB say as gospel.
Talk to them and come back on here and let us know what they suggest is the best course of action for you.
And don't worry to much about your creditors, they can't have what you haven't got, and they almost never send people to your door, no matter how much they threaten to, we have only been paying our creditors £1 each for just over a year now, and we owe £45,000 unsecured debt, and despite many letters threatening ' home visits' we haven't had anyone turn up.
In the extremely unlikely event that any debt collectors turn up, tell them (politely/not politely up to you) to go away.
Its only bailiffs that have any power, and you only get those calling after a CCJ has been issued and the CCJ conditions have been broken by yourselves.
So if you get a CCJ court date don't ignore it come back on here and the folks on here will advise you on what to do.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
Good luck.0
