I won but is this wrong?

Okay so a bit of a long story, I won Chesney Hawkes tickets a couple of days ago from theskinny.co.uk (I know, I know, but it was my first win so I was just happy to have won anything and besides, it could have been a laugh
).
The next day I got this email:
--
Hello all,
My sincerest apologies about the miscommunication of this prize. Due to confirmation and emailing times, the tickets for this were not properly distributed. I am waiting to hear back from the provider about a tickets for a different day. If not, I will try and arrange alternate prizes for you. My apologies again.

So I then replied asking what she meant by miscommunication as I had only heard the day before that I had won and saying I would look forward to finding out what my alternate prize would be. I then got this email:
--
Andrea,
I only emailed yesterday since the deadline was Monday evening. I did not choose this deadline rather the previous editor did. I also receive tickets from outside sources and rely on their replies as well. I have apologized for the miscommunication and can offer you a pair of tickets to: Fresh Air Presents… Indie Club Together at Cabaret Voltaire on Thursday 23 October from 7pm – 3am w/Damn Shames, Dance Lazarus Dance, Dirty Summer, and DJs from //FAST//, I Fly Spitfires, Dogtooth, Black Tape, This Is Music, Clash!, Dance Disaster Collective and Jerk Alert! (a competition that you also entered...). I am sorry for any frustrations this may have caused you but you are lucky to have been selected in the first place and to be receiving tickets at all.

I found the last sentence there quite aggresive and there was absolutely no reason for it! I also find the alternate prize quite unfair as the gig tickets I had won were worth £11 each whereas the alternate prize is simply a club, £5 each. I didn't reply to this email but emailed her boss instead because I was so angry at her reply to me. This morning I got this email:
--
Andrea,
I haven't heard from you about this replacement competition but your name has been submitted as a winner and the tickets are yours.
Cheers,
Jess

When I got this one I was shocked that they would 'choose' a winner for a competition, surely that is just wrong? Again, I ignored the email, then later got another email from a different company (the suppliers of the tickets I guess) saying this:
--
Hello,
Just getting in touch to say congratulations as you've won 2 tickets to Indie Club Together tonight at Cabaret Voltaire on Blair Street. The night starts from 7pm and finishes at 3am.
Your name's on the guestlist, so all you need to do is rock up at Cab Vol lookin' cool and we'll let you in!
See you there!

Obviously I was 'fixed' to win this prize and it might just be me but I found that wrong! I enter competitions with the idea that a winner will be random and chosen fairly.
Safe to say that my first win wasn't much good at all
Sorry for the huge thread, just wanted peoples views really

Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

I'm sorry your first win has gone so wrong I really don't know what to advise as It seems they are not going to be helpful at all.I am sure one of the more knowleageable on the forum will be able to help you as to what to do.0

Wow think that womans reply was really quite cheeky too. Not sure though what u can do unless you go to the head of the company and see what they say about it.2021 Please Be A Better Year0

Yes, it seems quite cheeky and I like the attitude that you should be grateful to have won a prize!!!
Check out this post by Velvet Glove - there are people/bodies you can complain to and in my experience just the threat of this sorts things out.
Best of luck!latest win: LOTR: Moria - thanks to catz
- I'm moving to Australia in April - will the competitions be any good there?!:rotfl:

Oh! Cheeky mare!
there was no need for 'Jess' to be so rude, you were simply querying what the problem was.
Perhaps when she said 'replacement competition' she actually meant 'replacement competition prize'I've had alternative prizes and had all the congrats you've won stuff all over again, even though it was just a replacement.
I hope you get a response from her boss though, as she was out of order with the tone of emailJo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

I agree. Drea, let us all know when you get a response from her boss(es). I'll keep this thread subscribed to keep an eye on it
And remember, my offer of those couple of tickets for you to a music festival in Bradford (unfortunately next AUGUST!) is still on if you can't get it sorted to your satisfaction. It's down right rude how they've been to you.Wins of 2014: *zip*

omg thats shocking! Hope you get it sorted hun. Shame this has spoilt your first win too bless ya. Sure something good will come along real soon xxx. Thanks to all posters and contributers :beer:0

how rude! kind of ruins it a bit when people have that attitude.
Though, I don't think she meant that you have 'won' the other competition, just that you would be getting the same prize as the other competition you entered.
Hope you can sort something out with them0 -
It could have been worse, you could have got the Chesney tickets
Sorry about the hassle that you have had and good luck in sorting something out.0
