Hi, make sure your oven is now on, turn your chicken upside down and cook for another half hour, 40 mins or whatever it takes.
Test to see if its done by putting a knife betwwen the thigh and body, juices should be clear, not pink at all.
Turning it upside allows the juices underneath to seep back through the chicken so the top bit will now be juicy rather than dry from the bottom bit, if that makes sense. Good luck, hope it can be salvaged.
When it seems nearly ready switch it back the right way up so the skin gets a bit crunchy again.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Hi I often cook my chicken with a grill function so do not worry it should be fine. My oven has a function that cycles between grill and oven throughout cooking. You will probably find that the skin is really crispy and tasty on top and that the chicken is quite tasty too. As already suggested to avoid it overcooking on the top I would turn it upside down - place the chicken on a rack if you do not want the underneath to go soggy and just cotinue cooking as normal.
As usual - just make sure it is cooked all the way through before you eat it.
I think you will find it is okay. Let us know how it turns out!
Enjoy your meal

Thanks for your advice.
I know i sound daft putting on the grill setting, but i was trying to cook a meal whilst taking 3 kids from football and gym etc., plus look after a 7 month old and i feel really ill like my eyes are going to explode out my head at any time and now my OH has gone out to the pub (a rare occasion but he picks his night!).
i think i overcooked it a little cos it fell of the bone quite easily but the kids have eaten it and nobody complained. I am gonna puree some down for the baby so wanted to make sure that it was well cooked.
thanks again - don't normally shop in marks and would have hated to have wasted itnow mum of 4!!!0 -

Glad it was ok in the end, and don't worry about your little mistake, we all do stuff.
I've forgotton about stuff in the oven and left stuff for hours and then discovered that I hadn't even turned the oven on!:DDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
