Hello all,
Looking for some general advice, don't understand economics very well, may be a rather difficult question...
With the credit crunch and all, does one forsee the prices of consumer goods going up or down, being more or less expensive pound for pound than say a year or two ago? For instance if I wanted to buy a TV or a laptop, will I get more or less for my money say a month before christmas, next summer, etc?
Comments appreciated, thanks.

I think the answer is 'YES'.
Prices will go up or down.0 -
Uhh, with my very limited knowledge I'm sure it's not as random as "how long is a piece of string", there are consumer trends in relation to interest rates, levels of disposable income etc, was interested in peoples comments on that.
Anyway, forget I asked.0 -
hey, put it this way...our 50 inch tv cost 1000 a year an bit ago..now you will get a great deal on simular product for a lot cheaper i think as these things are seen as a luxuary in the credit crunch people tend to not buy them as can just about afford weekly bills etc so yes i belive all electronics will go down in price among many other 'luxuary items'
hope this helps:cool:0 -
Everybody in all sorts of businesses has jumped on the media bandwagon of 'the credit crunch'. (i wonder where that statement come from) It has been seen as an excuse to put prices up for everything and they say 'blame the credit crunch'.
Sure the money situation has caused this but how much is justified?
As always with consumer spending on the high street, you can be sure if it slows down, prices will drop to move stock.0 -
I was looking out for an american fridge freezer and assumed it would come down in price. And its gone up!! by £100! So now I am going to wait till it comes down again!
The other thing is, it depends what you want and when you want it. I was gonna hold out for a Wii until the prices came down but then panicked and thought I wouldn't get it for christmas coz it would sell out, so I just went out a bought it when I saw it....its for the kids and they have asked for that from Fr Xmas. Most electrical items come down in price as the months go on because "new and improved" models come on the scene. I'm sure when another fridge freezer "replaces" the one I am after, I will get my one loads cheaper (just how long can I wait?? ). x0 -
I guess it depends on your circumstances. It makes me laugh when my mates complain that something they bought last week is now £10 cheaper then go and trade in a perfectly good car for 1/2 the purchase price (losing thousands) yet dont bat an eyelid?!?!?!0
