Sony Walkman MP3 v Ipod Nano

Thinking of buying one for my daughter for Xmas.
Any recommendations on which is better?

The Ipod is better in so many ways. Sony have a history of using their own formats(ATRAC) and needing complicated software to transfer songs to the device.

Personally I wouldnt touch the sony with a bargepole.

I think the Sony has a much better battery life, I'm not 100% but think the ATRAC isn't a problem anymore, I used to have a old Sony MP3 player about 4 years ago and was worried about the format issue - never had any problems meself.

get neither, both are substandard.

iRiver is easily the market leader in quality they just can't compete with the marketing budget of Sony and apple. All iRivers play every single music format have outstanding battery life, superb build quality - none of this plastic feel of the sony and apple.

Don't follow the crowd.
