I have had same problem today,I purchased a tv last april from currys phoned hfc today to pay in full and was told there is a 25 pound admin charge. HOW ARE THEY ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS? Is there anything I can do?0

Hi blu1. I don’t think HFC are connected with Clydesdale Barclays.
All you can do is check your original paperwork to see if the charge is detailed there. If not, just persist in getting them to drop it. (or refund if you’re close to a finish date)
Maybe it’s just a last minute smokescreen tactic to see if they can get people to default on the finish date? (to get you onto the punitive finance)
I suppose the big problem with gormless companies like this is that shoppers in the High Street are not going to google Barclays Partner Finance (or whoever) before jumping in with both feet.
For us the £29 charge was nowhere to be seen, and after a lot of hard work it was refunded.
I’ve googled Barclays Partner Finance and come up with dozens of disaster stories concerning them behaving extremely badly over almost any customer issue. Their customer service is dismal, and lacking in good information. It’s always ‘I think…’ and ‘Well possibly…’ which is simply not good enough.
Most definitely another company to strike off the list!0
