If there are any nurses out there could you recommend any handcream or handcare to buy for a Nurse? As I know with having to constantly wash them is hard on the hands. Any suggestions?
Thanx

I don't know about nurses, but being at home all day, I tend to have my hands in water quite a lot. I use Vaseline Intensive Care during the day as it is quickly absorbed and doesn't cost an awful lot but at night times I use something a little bit more expensive but total luxury. It is called L'Occitane hand cream and has the most wonderful smell and it is just a pleasure to use.

Their foot cream is fantastic too. I tend to get bad cracks on my feet and after a couple of days using the foot cream, my feet are smooth again.0 -
Hi got to agree with the previous thread. The Vasoline intensive care is just wonderful stuff. Also if you work on a ward do you have the barrier handcream on the wall dispenser. This does help if you put it on a couple of times during the day. :xmassign:unneccesary spend challege £10 this week £4 petrol for day out0

Oh thanx yes I had heard about L'Occitane but wasn't sure about it as I was a bit worried if the shea butter smell might be a bit overpowering. I will get her a duo pack for feet and hands I think, where is the best place to get it from the L'Occitane site? or any better prices elsewhere? Is it just one honey kind or others aswell?Thanx

It is £24.00 on qvcuk.com but you have to pay for postage with that. There are some L'Occitane shops around but I am not sure where. On QVC you can get some good gift sets that contain the foot and hand duos.0

Another vote for Vaseline Intensive Care here - from my wife (a nurse) actually!
She also tends to suffer from eczema and gets a lotion called Dermol 500 from the doc. It's on prescription and if it does what it says on the tin (plastic actually!) it is an "...antimicrobial emollient and moisturiser for the management of dry and pruritic skin conditions". So there!0 -
My husband woks on a Chemical plant and had really bad cracks in his palms (and very itchy). Steroid cream was useless, but Grandma Vine's antiseptic gel and hand cream have been superb. Smell lovely, available from Natural-woman.com. The works doctor turned his nose up, but the stuff is great.0

I've had real problems with my hands most of my life - dermatitis, cracks around the nails, etc and have tried just about every hand cream going, including Vaseline Intensive Care, to no avail. About a year ago I discovered Body Shop's Almond Oil Hand Rescue Treatment (£8 a pot) and my hands have been great ever since. I only use it at night, but my daughter, who is a student nurse finds a couple of times a day is best for her - it's well worth giving it a try.0

My sister's a nurse and she swears by Bodyshop Hemp hand cream!0

L'Occitane can be bought from Debenhams and I think House of Fraser too. I'm not too keen on the smell - I think its a bit over powering, although a good hand cream.
I agree with previous post - Body Shop Hemp is brilliant, and also the Body Shop Africa Spa Honey Butter..... fab stuff!!!0
