DG SOLICITORS and account that doesnt exist

These idiots are harassing me for payments on an account which doesnt exist. I spoke to them today on the telephone and even the woman there admitted that the sort code was unrecognisable, but as they had been sent the details through from hsbc it was down to me to speak to them.

I do have an account with hsbc where i have an overdraft which is in dispute due to my financial position and the bank charges which i am claiming back from them through the courts, although i have been making regular monthly payments to this account even so (or so i thought i had) as it turns out the last 4 months payments have been paid towards this fictional account which doesnt exist.

does anyone else have any similar experience ? Is this a deliberate ploy ?

  • I'm sure that you can show you have been making payments and the bank should be able to locate where the money went. Show your statements to the branch manager and ask what has been going on.

If the account is in dispute, then they should not have passed the debt on. I would write to HSBC stating that they are in breach of the OFT debt collection guidelines for passing on an account that was in dispute - and get the matter of where your money has gone to cleared up asap.
