Does anyone know if there is such a thing as long life cream and where to get it?
I hate having to keep throwing cream away because it has gone out of date.
I need the cream ( single) for Jamie's chicken and leek stroganoff...scrum diddly umptious!

Do you mean like Emlea - that has a long date on it but I stopped using it when I realised it has tran fats in.0

You can buy UHT cream, but it's hard to find and I'm not sure how long it lasts when it's opened. I used to buy a French brand from a local deli. It makes a fantastic and very delicious cream tart though (basically you reduce the cream and bake it in a very light pastry shell) ...0

All the supermarkets do a long life UHT cream.I've got some Asda own make in my fridge at the moment.0

Yes Asda do a UHT LONGLIFE CREAM 284 ML in single or double varieties. Just don't do what i did. I was making a tart & used freh cream but i ran out & i had longlife in the cupboard- i thought what the hell,i'll give it a go.Unfortunatly when you mix the two together it curdles & i had to throw the lot away!!!0

I stopped using Elmlea when I realised it was full of trans fats. Much better of sticking with natural heart clogging fat.0

Can you not freeze whatever is left?
I'm sure I've seen some threads on OS saying it is fine if you just want to reuse it for cooking."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -
I used to buy frozen double cream - it came as chunks a bit thicker than a lipstick, in a bag. Use what you want and leave the rest in the freezer. They defrosted very quickly (better not defrosted in the microwave).
Now I'm money saving with a vengeance I'd like to buy it again to save waste - does anyone know who sells it now please?0
