Am I correct in assuming that due to present market conditions ,pension fund unit prices have fallen and that I would be able to purchase more units now than I could have, say, 12 months ago?
If so I am inclined to believe the £3600 earmarked for a s&s isa would be better spent on my pension.

That's correct. If so I am inclined to believe the £3600 earmarked for a s&s isa would be better spent on my pension.
The ISA and the pension are merely tax wrappers. It's what's inside that counts and the same funds that are available in pensions are available in ISAs. So funds that are cheaper in a pension are also available in an ISA.0 -
Unless the market plunges even further, which is likely being as many people are predicting a depression as opposed to a recession. ( They could of course be wrong)0
