Help, green pumpkins!

Does anyone know how to turn my green pumpkins into orange ones by Halloween please. The party will not be the same without orange pumpkins!

I know bananas help other fruits to ripen quicker if they are near them because of the gas bananas produce when they ripen - not sure if it would work with a pumpkin but I guess it is a fruit so it might do
  • no offence, but why did you buy green ones? :S surely just wait a few more days, buy orange ones? paint them if they're still orange hehe!

Personally I would go grab a couple of orange ones cheaply from somewhere and use green and orange ... afterall you see haloween advertised in bright green and orange with the occasional purple so why panic ... make the most of what you have :D

  • make the green ones into witches, they are meant to be green.

I grew them myself from a packet of seeds bought from Lidl, which had a picture of orange pumpkins on the front, so I was expecting orange ones!

Try putting them in a sunny place and then at night keep bring them inside and keep them somewhere warm - above about 15'c. When you bring them indoors make sure they have good air circulation. Rotate the pumpkin from time to time to allow the sun to reach the greener parts of the pumpkin. They've probably been attacked by Jack Frost. Hope this helps a little. xxx
