How about getting lots of green waste packaging (wrappers, boxes etc) cut them into holly shapes. Cut out a doughnut shaped piece of cardboard (cereal box) glue them onto the cardboard and make a "rubbish" wreath. A few rolled up pieces of red packaging for berries.

You can stick lots of CD's (use the free ones you get bombarded with these days) to make a Xmas tree. :rudolf:

My mums still got mine on the xmas tree (from 30yrs ago!!!) - egg boxes - cut out the cup parts - zig zag cut the edges (paint or spray - or if they're the shiny ones they look ok as they are) - join two together with some ribbon or wool through the centre and tie knots on the inside - so that they hang over the branch (you could add tinsel on the insides if you wanted). Other than than there's the obvious toilet roll converted into a xmas cracker.

There are of lots of ideas for recycling old cds including a couple of trees. :xmastree:

Be careful cutting or heating CDs though they can be sharp and give off nasty chemicals when heated.

  • what about covering old coke cans etc in tinsel/paint green etc then make a hole in the bottom of them and string together with a cork in between and you have a great garland :)

  • My son once did a cut out cardboard santa and stuck it to a loo roll.He theno stuck a disc of cardboard slightly bigger than the tube to the bottom which was then covered in cotton wool to look like snow and disguise the cardboard and we filled it with cheap sweets,(don't turn it upside down though as they all fall out!!). You coud cover the tube in red crepe paper or similar. :xmassmile

You can make little baskets to hang on the tree from egg cartons- cut out one segment ,make a handle out of stiff paper, spray it silver or gold, stick tinsel round the edge and fill with sweets.
