You are not covered for either as standard post does not cover consequential loss. However you cann get a receipt when you buy your postal order and if you keep that and have the PO crossed and made out to the seller then you can claim a refund from the Post office if the PO is not cashed.
As per the auction page you don't of course have any protection on ebay if you use a postal order, there is nothing at all you can do if your seller does a runner or if your goods fail to arrive.
However, all sellers are required to take paypal now, so if you want to be safe pay via paypal backed by a credit card or Visa debit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I avoid using Paypal becasue of security problems in the past. Paypal account hacked and my bank account details got and used. Still fighting with bank to get the money back.
Paypal is NOT always safe to pay with. We had a seller take our payment and never send goods. When asked paypal for refund, was told seller had no funds in account. 18 months later still no refund....BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !
