  • Well done you! Day one down............any diet coke? Lol

Not sure if this would work for you but would it be possible to maybe 'save' the extra from your £5 per day. Even if its only a few pence each day you could have it as either an 'emergency' fund or maybe to give yourself a little treat every now and then.

Good luck with the bank charges thing.............I havent been brave enough yet!
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!
  • Well it is the end of the day and i have spent no more money woo hoo me !!!

and the bank charges reclaim letter is waiting to be printed (I dont have a printer so emailed it to friend ) hopefully i will get it in the next day or two and will be in the post by friday at the latest

Also signed up for quidco today bit gutted as could have earned some money back from Argos which is where i brought daughters birthday prezzie from earlier today oh well learn by your mistakes !!

Also had a thought that now would be a good time to change elec and gas supplier as i have just had a bill so I would not have to pay so much money when i leave current supplier ! hmmm something to look into on thursday /friday .

Well off to bed now got work in the morning standing on my feet for 8 hours wishing i was else where oh well it has got to be done ! Just hope i hear from the jobs i have applied for soon .

  • Only me ,

another good day regards to the fiver a day :j . I brought cigarettes a can of diet coke and lunch from work all for £4.70

Was not as smart as i should have been:o needed to get milk so nipped into petrol garage on the way home from parents evening spent more than i should have milk ,sweets for daughter for doing well at school and sweets for me for the sake of it and another can of diet coke . All came out of the weekly food budget so now down to £5.00 to get two pizzas for friends and any bread /milk needed  not gonna happen me thinks .

on reflection about todays diet coke situation it cost me 79p a can today i had two but a big 2l bottle is 1.64 better value to get a big bottle .never even considered that before ;)

i have only got £3 for tomorrow as i have already brought ciggarettes in advance not sure whether that is good organisation skills on my part or that i am soooo peed off with work today that i need them !!

the job i was hoping to get has gone :( .

going to look in to changing gas and elec suppliers tomorrow before i go to work .

Things are all going to plan to stay within budget and not waste money ithink i will do this for a few weeks and then really start to pay off some debts in the new year ;)

mammamia have you not got a supermarket by you? The big bottles of coke are 2 for £2.00 at the moment, better though is 2 bottles of High Juice for £2.00, if it can tempt you?
    Have a good weekend xx

Could I please just poke my nose in here and say that you really should invest in some contents insurance...I can't see any listed on your SOA but it really is vital. Basic cover will only cost you around 60/70 per year - remember to go through quidco for cashback.

It's peace of mind when you're on a tight budget and have debt to know that should the worst happen, you can replace everything that you need with just the excess to find.

Also - have you thought about rolling your own ciggys? I know my parents do as it works out so much cheaper.

Food wise, do you menu plan? Would be a great way to start on how you can cut down your food bill, try and take into account making double portions and freezing if possible and using leftovers to form another meal. Learn how to use lentils/pulses/breadcrumbs and oats to your advantage and make sure you fill the oven when you use it to conserve energy.

    Hi MM,

In regard to the pizza's. We often have a pizza night on Saturday night and I buy two or three from Iceland. They are quite nice and only £1. or £1.50 each. And they do some nice puddings! :D

  • Hi Mamma Mia

I have a suggestion regarding the Diet Coke situation - buy a 500ml bottle of Diet Coke, and re-fill it at home from the 2l bottles (buy when on offer!) and take your re-filled 500ml bottle out and and about with you to work, etc, save you needing to buy a can when out!

I drank loads of Coca Cola a few years ago - 2 litres a day - eek! I managed to wean myself off it though and never buy it now, unless out for a meal or at a friend's house.

    HTH.

i was also hooked on coke then i decided to try switching from coke cola the proper stuff to the tesco value 19p stuff and put the money i saved in a jar after day 2 i couldn't stomach the tesco coke tastes horrid and i liked the look of the cash so i went cold turkey. worth trying to change to a cheaper brand!

  • Do you pay single person rate on your council tax?
Also, you pay £15 for perscriptions etc - check that you are not entitled to get these free through WFTC.

Im addicted to Dr Pepper, and could go through a 2 litre bottle every day! I cant drink it at the moment as im breastfeeding, but its hard!!!!!

Also, pop over to the payment a day thread, its a great motivator to pay tiny bits off your debt every day, and all the folks on the thread are fantastic!

  • This weekend has been manic !!

I got my wages on friday and was suprised i originally got more than was expected so i filled up the car paid a few bills and paid deposit on daughters birthday party :j was really pleased that i managed to afford it without any help normally half it with the EX but thats a touchy subject at the moment any how got a few bits from primark socks ,vests and stuff for daughter honestly nothing for me at all and my card was declined
when i went to bank to get the cash my statement said that all money had been taken out of my account my company had recalled it
scary stuff as i had already spent some of it and i dont have an overdraft . luckily my dad lent me the money so that i would not get charged . After a few cross words with the pay roll department and my imediate manager telling them that if i was not paid i would not be coming in to work .
eventually i did get paid a less amount by the end of the day. due to parental leave i had 2 weeks money deducted so this month is going to be tight .

I did have a night out on friday but i stuck to non alcoholic drinks and a friend gave us a lift there annd back so saved a bit there :T

I am hoping that i will get a bit more help with rent and council tax this month as my wages have been deducted by £300 I am just waiting for a pay slip to come so that i can hand it in to benefits .

the diet coke situation is good i brought water:D to take to work and i will refill the bottles .

I am off to do my grocery shopping today and i am going to be good there too . Daughter has been brainwashed in to thinking halloween is a big big deal and is expecting a cat costume dont want to dissapoint but it will probably be cheaper to buy one than to buy all the stuff to make one .what a con all a big ploy to make you spend more aaaarrrrggggghhhh.

To be honest am a bit worried about christmas and how am i going to afford it . Everything on the list for santa is over £20 and there is lots on the list but as i was trying to explain that santa might get you an expensive present(nintendo ds) and a few smaller ones .i was told "mummy you are silly santa does not have money he can have whatever he wants for free" (if only )

On a good note I have changed energy supplier and earned my first £5 on quidco ;) .wanted to do an online food shop but they did not have any convienent delivery slots

No news on any of the jobs i have applied for boo hoo
