I spend £1 per day0
-
averages out about £1.50 a day, work 4 days a week, usually take packed lunch 2-3 of those days, if not buy a rol from local bakers.0
-
I try and take a can of soup and an apple most days so about 70p but if I forget its £2.30 for a big fat ham salad roll!
I'd really like a free lunch box though, might make me feel young again, reminding me of school lunches!0 -
What's this about?
We've blagged 50 lunch kits from food waste reduction website LoveFoodHateWaste to give away to MoneySavers. The lunch kit contains:- Ice-pack lunch box chiller
- Drinks bottle
- Lock and lock containers
- Sandwich bags
- Snack jars
- A stainless steel vacuum flask
If you want to try for one, just reply to this message (click on 'post reply') and answer the following question (don't worry, whether or not you get one won't be dependent upon your answer):How much do you think you spend on lunch every day?
To do this you need to be registered for the Forum (if you're not when you click reply you'll be taken through the process, it's free of course). Please don't send an email or Private Message, you have to reply here on this discussion thread to be in with a chance of grabbing one.
What to do if you’re picked
The 50 people who get the lunch kit will be picked at random (we've a special little computer programme to do it) and announced in next week's email (if you don't get the email go to www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips) with a list of usernames added to this post.
If you're picked you'll need to send MSE Wendy a private message with your name and postal address. This will then be sent to Love Food Hate Waste who will send you the kit directly. Your details will only be used for the purposes of this giveaway.
What's lovefoodhatewaste.com?
As the name suggests Lovefoodhatewaste is very much in keeping with the MoneySavingExpert.com ethos and aims to help people save money while learning not to chuck food away just because it's a day old. If you're a regular or lurker on the Old Style forum board then you may like it.
You can find more ways to reduce your food bill in the Cheap Supermarket Shopping article.

I usually spend about £1.50 per day so its not alot but every little counts0

Husband doesn't eat any, small person takes packed lunch to school - cheese sandwiches (I bake my own bread) 45p & crisps from multipack 7p, slow eater so doesn't have time for more. I tend to grab a piece of fruit 15p, yog 18p & homemade flapjack 12p? So I'm guessing it's around £1. Bit of an eye opener - the cheese is the most expensive thing - until you stop and work it out it's easy to overlook how expensive some essentials are.0

I don't spend too much on my lunch - I am an at-home mum to 2 toddlers. So I eat with them, home laid eggs on home made bread usually costs just a few pennies! Some days it could be as much as a pound, depending on whether we're eating left overs, or making something fresh. One Saturday a month, I have a mental health day, where I go to a stained glass class, and I have a sandwich from the Co-Op as a treat - usually no more than £1.50 for the veggie options, currently I have no lunch box, and my husband won't share his!
Love Food Hate Waste is a great site, I like to look at the recipes for ideas. Thanks for the giveaway thread!:jMoney saving eco friendly Fertility reflexology specialist :j0 -
Brilliant Idea we all tend to get carried away with buying more in supermarkets than we need and end up having to throw it away! Will definately try to use the waste not theory :j0
-
Under a pound normally. I grab a snicker while i'm out. Exception today though - i was bought pie and chips.
:j Nice one!0 -
I usually eat free at work but as the waistiline in now increasing I am taking my own in - homemade soup and bread and tesco value low fat yoghurt. I think this probably comes to less than 30p a day and a great saving on calories too!0
