    Good price.

Not a bad shaver - it's one of the ones with the charging/cleaning unit that uses the blue alcohol cleaning cartridges.

Given that a replacement foil and cutter will cost you £25 and a pack of 3 cleaning cartridges £10, this is a good deal.

    Was £110 though...not recently...Typically around £50-£60.

Review of Braun 5895 Contour by drhemp

    Advantages:
    none
Disadvantages: poor shave, smelly cleaning solution, poor battery life

...but I cannot use the Braun 5895 to shave with, I'd rather have a beard and I hate beards). Let me begin as to why this is such a bad product. Now please bear in mind that I'm not a very hairy person with lots of stubble and can get away without having a shave for a couple of days. The shave is very poor and it takes ages even for me to remove the stubble and then on the occasions I have used it, I normally end up in the bathroom for a wet shave ...
...the time of the Braun Contour 5895. The automatic cleaning mechanism. Every time you shave it cleans itself, which at first I thought this was a neat idea, it isn't. More often than not, before you have finished shaving, it cuts out, telling you to clean it again, so you have to put it back in the stand which has the cleaning unit. It does it about 3 times (don't put it anywhere near your TV or telephone as it's very noisy), but then it is all wet

Good shave as far as I'm concerned. No worse than any others.

Certainly far better than any under £30.

All sold out now, so it doesn't matter anyway!

Just got mine today - they actually sent the new version of the same shaver - the Braun 390CC

Tescos sell it currently for £129.97, although it's currently on offer at Argos at half price for £65

Still, £27.44 delivered was even better!

..and also at Boots for the same price if you're an Advantage Card fan :)
  • Thanks, ordered mine and got it a couple of days ago. I got the newer 390CC instead of the 5895 which is between £ 60 and £ 130 everywhere else (including on the Tesco website - very strange). I am pleased with the shave although not as good as my Philips but after it went up in smoke I am not too keen to buy another one. Anway the Braun shaver was showing as discontinued after I bought it but now available again. In fact I have bought another one as a spare for either me or my son to use.
