Have you kept your steward/ safety rep informed of events?

If your manager is going to deny you access to a phased return I'd suggest keeping a paper trail of correspondence especially if it comes to light others in similar circs have been granted a phased return

You may also require a manual handling assessment to be conducted - has anyone advised of this?

For what it's worth, any case I've been involved in which has included a phased return has always been agreed - sometimes with a bit of a bun fight but the request has never been refused.

I was told that phased return comes into effect if your off work for 4 weeks or more....I guess each trust may vary the policy.

I did a manual handling course when I first started in July. Not sure if we've got a steward/safety rep?

I'm going to the hospital tomorrow for physio so i'm going to pop into see her afterwards and have a chat with her.

At the moment i've been off for 3 weeks but to me it should be offered whenever the employee feels ready to go back and obviously the doctors say they are ready. I don't really want to stay off another week just so it crosses a certain threshold if you know what I mean? But I will stay off if I have to because i'd rather just have the week off instead of going into work and getting sent home every day because I know that is what would happen.
