any advise welcomed

Hi All,
Am posting for first time looking for some help.
We needed to remortgage at the begining of this year and spoke to a broker who offered a fixed product - 5.89% he got an on line agreement in principle with Halifax done on that basis this was beginning of Dec 07.
I rang back mid December and said I would take the risk and go with a tracker and he said he would get changed to a tracker +14%. When the mortgage completed in Jan 08 I realised that we had not had the product changed. I spoke to the broker who said he would speak to H.fax as he had sent a fax which he had copy of. I chased him up and He said there was nothing he could do as H.Fax were not taking any resposibilty.
I have since spoken to H.fax and in May they wrote back saying the did not feel they were to blame even though i sent them copies of the fax the broker had sent and a transmission report confirming fax was sent o.k. I have since been on Maternity leave and have been unable to follow up further. In light of the recent rate drop and the fact I am not getting any money while on Mat leave can anyone advise if we have any hope of sorting this situation, perhaps the FSA.
We have to date paid £680 more than we would have on the correct rate and going forward our mothly payments will be £156.00 more.
If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks.
