Crazy borrowing I know but what will CCCS say and what will they think best a PTD or BR or DMP
please give advice have a meeting in a few weeks0 -
RichieScotland, in lieu of a CCCS chap/ess answering, did you know you can find out what might be suggested for you by filling in the CCCS online Debt Remedy from their website? I did this, it suggested a DMP, and it was all set up via the website - other than by email, I've not spoken to a CCCS in person yet!
Just in case you didn't want to wait the few weeks until your meeting ...
Hope that helps!

Hi there,
my boyfriend racked up quite a lot of debt as a student and unfortunately just as we get on our feet as a family these debts are catching up with him. He assures me that this is the final debt, a credit card debt of £1340 that has been sent to a collections agency.
Now I'm just wondering if there's a possibility of us saving ourselves some money by asking for a reduction in this figure for payment in full (wiping out our savings!). Is this a possibility and what is a fair offer?
Many thanks0 -
Hi, need a little advice on debts handled by DMA's. I accept that the accounts they are handle are already in default, my fault for losing my job. What I want to know is why does my credit reference file show only that the account is in default and does not show that I have been making regular agreed payments to reduce the debt. If I look at the file it shows all my other accounts have been recieving payments and go back many many months. I just appears to me that my file shows I'm not paying my debts.
Thank you for any help you can give0 -
About a year ago i was a bit short of cash and went to a cheque centre and took a £100.00. they only charged 10 percent commission which was not a lot at the time. I then got into a vicious circle and eventually was using my limit of £500.00 every month. It got to the point i was so short when I got paid because all my cheques cleared and you have to wait a week after to cash more i ended up going to different companies and now have my total wage coming out every time i get paid. I recently went way over my overdraft and got a final defualt. I was then told by the bank that by writing cheques when i had no money in my account and getting them cashed when i got paid i was commiting fraud!! they threatened to come round to my house ( my parents council house) . i have not told my parents and am ashamed that ive got my self into such a mess. I called debt help centres becuase i was so stressed but they wont even look at it becuase its not a 'proper loan'. i constantly worry now about payday and the bank have now repossessed my cheque book. i have no idea what to do. i tried to get a loan for 24 months which i can easy pay a month as i do get a good wage but my credit history is now so bad i keep getting refused. im only 20 and have no idea what to do???!!!0

Hi i hope somebody can help, i lost my job before xmas, to make sure my direct debits where not returned unpaid and i incurred more costs i cancelled them through my internet banking, i then sent my creditors a letter and proposed budget sheet reccomended by national debtline, when i left my account dormant so to speak it still had my permitted overdraft facility in place and unused, tonight i have checked the account and the TSB have taken £411 as payment for my loan agreement which has also taken me into the overdraft ? is this right can they do this0

Sorry already started a thread elsewhere but:-
My CCCS review is due in february. My DMP started in Dec 07.
Will the creditors expect to see an increase in my payments? To be honest when all is worked out i cant see how i can afford to do that. I have taken a job closer to home to cut fuel costs, however, what i have saved in fuel has been swallowed up by gas/electric/insurance increases.
What would happen if i have to reduce my payments (really don't want to do this as that will no doubt cause probelms!!)0 -

Is your bank account with Lloyds aswell?? if so then yes they can do this. Lloyds did this to me too although it was for a credit card. They did credit half of it back when i had grovelled enough.
I also had an HSBC account which i closed down because i owed HFC Bank aswell and i was convinced they would have taken money,0 -
Hi Sue,
I spoke with a CCCS advisor and have an appt with a debt consellor in late Feb. He also emailed me the information pack to complete in preparation for the appt along with a client ref number.
However, just lately, I have received a letter from my lenders solicitors to pay up 2.5k in seven days [by 22nd Jan] or else they will proceed with repossesion proceedings.
I called my lender yesterday to advise them I will try to get these funds in some way [but highly unlikely] within 7 days where they just seem to just shrug their shoulders I feel.
What can I do in the meantime ? Should I file for BR as I have the forms with me ?Hi Mr 36
Thank you for your message
Bankruptcy is always the last resort and is not always the best option for everyone. Especially if you have any equity in the property.
It is difficult giving you advice via email as I do not know your full situation
However, the mortgage is obviously your main priority at the moment as you are 3 months in arrears.
I would suggest you ring us as soon as possible for an appointment with one of our mortgage advisors. They will help you put together a budget showing your income and expenditure and look at the best options available to deal with your situation.
We also have a welfare benefits support team who would also check to make sure you are receiving your full benefits entitlement.
If you would like an appointment please ring our free helpline on 0800 138 1111.
Regards

I've got 2 ccj's registered against me and i am paying the agreed amount. I have been told i'm at risk of redundancy. I wanted to start researching my options now. I will beclaiming JSA if laid off. how does this affect the ccjs and would there be any impact (of ccjs) on redundancy payout?
thanks
Hi there, sorry to take so long to get back to you.
If you are in the position where you are unable to afford the CCJ's, you will need to approach your County Court for a redertermination. This can be done by getting an N245 form, which just allows you to complete a new income and expenditure sheet and allow you to make a new offer of repayment. There is normally a fee of £35 for doing this, but if you are in reciept of JSA (or any other benefit) you could ask for the fee to be waived by filling on an EX160A form.
Once you've filled out the forms, take it back to your County Court and a judge should reduce your payments in line with your situation.
Hope this helps,
