Hiya,
Quick question - about to enter a DMP to get my finances under control. At the moment I am renting with my partner and we hope to move and get out of London at some before the end of the summer.
If all goes well and the creditors accept the DMP, hopefully I will avoid CCJ's and my credit score schouldn'y be completely hammered?? Will I still be able to pass the estate agents credit check? Worried sick about it.
Thanks in advance!0 -
was cold called on 18th feb. took up finance offer, paid £125 on cr. cd. E mailed co on 24th feb. surely this is within 7 days. and also twice on following day25th. have received letter saying that IU am out of 7 days cooling off period. Surely they are wrong. Feel I have been ripped off by a co. that is supposed to help you get out of difficulties. the reason I can celled was because I wanted to read through paper work, which I received on 24th. Felt pressured by this co. Have just phoned and not had call back yet. dont this will happen. Help appreciated. Co name is Sterling Green.0

The thought of paying off a creditor, the first since my DMP began excites me so much.
Hi scouselad1974 and thank you for your message
Great to hear you have almost paid off this creditor!
When you are on a DMP, you need to make any extra additional payments through your DMP. We would normally pro rata any extra payments, so that all your creditors get a fair share.
I would recommend that you contact our client support team and explain you are able to make this payment and that you would like to clear the outstanding amount on this one debt.
They will advice you further.

Hi xmickeyx and thank you for your message
Welcome to the website!
If a DMP was your best option after speaking to the counsellor, then we would need up to date proof of your income from you.

I already do a pretty reasonable portion of what the minimum payments would be - I guess around 60%.
I've been on my plan around 3 years and I'm wondering if there are any thresholds that going over might lead to to the credit cards reverting me back to regular, interest paying payments?
Does anyone have experience on this?
Hi workinonit and thank you for your message
You would need to book a review to update your budget to show your new income.
If after paying all your priorities you can then afford to pay the full minimum contractual payments, then you may be able to continue on the plan, but the creditors may start charging interest and charges again.

Hi mandrake and thank you for your message
Some landlords may accept you if you can get someone to act as guarantor for you. This means if you default on your payments, then they can pursue your guarantor for the money.
They may also ask you for a larger bond and a few months rent in advance.
It is sometimes easier to rent through a private landlord than an estate agent as estate agents usually have stricter criteria with regard to letting to tenants with a bad credit history.

Hi there,
My wife is going to be made redundant soon. Which, effectively, will remove half of the household earnings. She’ll get redundancy, but will no longer be contributing to the bills, as such.
All of our debt, bar £13k, is in my name (£85k). My earnings, during this period, due to tax commitments and other extraordinary items, will be ridiculously low and I may also be out of work from August/September.
If I put a SOA together, on my earnings, on my debt, it would indicate an absolute inability to pay all of my commitments. Does my wife’s’ redundancy money have to be taken into consideration for my debts?
I just want to know what I have to do. My repayments are around £2500 a month, before we talk of my share of the mortgage and other secured loans. When doing a SOA, as it is for me, do I simply take my earnings etc into account if the debt is all in my name?
Thanks for any help.
