Hello, new to this part of the board, think il be sitting here for the next few months tho for ideas!
Im planning hampers this year fro friends and family, as money is very tight, due to me having started a new business earlier this year.
Im going to do small "token" style hampers with bits n bobs as pressies, but im planning to do foodie hampers for individual households ( does that make sense? )
Im looking for some easy ( and cheap ) ideas to put into the hampers. Ideally things that are Christmassy, and fun.
I am planning Gingerbread men, mulled wine and plum jam...apart from that im stumped!

How about shortbread biscuits? Some chocolate maybe (you can buy this cheaply in Lidl and its very nice). I have noticed that Lidl are selling mini stollen cakes too (they're very christmassy) or you could put in a normal sized one.
Premium Marzipan Stollen £1.89
Luxury Stollen with Butter & Almonds £2.29
Mini Marzipan Butter Stollen (350g bag) £1.89
Dundee Cake £3.79
Luxury Top Iced Christmas Cake £3,99
Fruit & Nut Tub £2,79
Luxury Shortbread Assortment £2.49
Premium Chocolate Santas (milk, dark or white) £1.79 each
Italian Panettone & Pandoro cakes £3.49 and £3.69
Christkindl Gluhwein £3.69 per bottle
All the above and more available in Lidl from 13 October.0 -
i know you have already mentioned gingerbread men but how about a gingerbread house instead. would be bigger and a real centrepiece to the hamper. I haven't attempted one myself yet but am planning on making one towards the end of december and if it turns out ok frantically make another few to give as family presents to my sisters and their families and oh's sister and family. do a google search for gingerbread house brings up loads of instructions but basically its just baking the gingerbread cutting out shapes from a template, gluing them together with icing and decorating it with sweets. One in boots costs £15  am hoping i can make something 4 or 5 just as nice for the same price as one from there. hope that helps0

Hi Kerrie, I've made several little gifts this year; some to give on their own and some to add to hampers. Some suggestions from me...
Make your own gingerbread house - Ikea £1.95. These come flatpacked, just like their furniture
Gingerbread hearts - Ikea 55p for pack of 8. You thread ribbon through a little hole so they can be hung on the tree and can add messages/Xmas greetings with icing. I bought a tube of ready made white icing to write mine (Asda about £1).
Mulled wine - could buy or make your own with bottle red, cinnamon sticks, mulled wine sachets...
Snowman soup - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1189961

I've filled my leftover cello cone bag with sweets for the OH.
How about mixes in jars? Lots of ideas here... http://www.craftbits.com/viewCategory.do?categoryID=REC and here... http://www.allfreecrafts.com/giftinajar/index.shtml and on the gifts in a jar thread... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=571440&highlight=gift+in+jar
Pots of gold - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=14944377&highlight=pot+gold#post14944377
Also seen this idea for Snowman poop which I think is so cute... http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1931
