Sending postal orders abroad

I've just sent some postal orders abroad. I've crossed them and wrote the name of the receiver and 'only' after his name. If they get lost and get into the wrong hands, will I be able to claim from the post office? Has anyone had experience with this. I have never been successful with any claims from the post office for damaged items so was wondering if they will honour claims with postal orders.
