Tales of shopping to make you laugh:
When they were young my OH's brother was sent to the shop to buy a loaf of bread. He made a big fuss of going on his new bike, so his mum reluctantly agreed. However, when he bought the bread he couldn't fit it into the clip-thing his bike had for carrying things like newspapers, so he threw away half of the bread until it would fit into the clip. His mum was not pleased when he arrived home very proudly with half a squashed loaf of bread!!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Threadhead wrote:In my wisdom (and to give DS a bit of responsibility - doh!) I asked my son to buy plain flour so I can make a malt loaf, yuck, for OH. However, he came back with wholemeal plain flour, instead of "plain" plain flour. He was delighted with himself, and I couldnt burst his bubble.
So,my question is; can I use the wholemeal flour in the breadmaker instead of bread flour? Have only done white bread up til now but am willing to experiment here. Or any other suggestions?
You could alway sieve the wholemeal flour to remove the bran, if you haven't got any white flour to mix in. (The resulting flour won't be "white flour", because white flour has some/all of the wheatgerm removed, and is often bleached too.)0
