Problems renting with dmp

Hi

At the moment I rent a house with my girlfriend. She had a credit check and signed the tenancy agreement on her own because I am in a dmp and we weren’t sure if I had a credit check to rent the house if it would jeopardise whether we could rent it or not.
Two years later we are thinking about moving to rent another house. I am still in a dmp but we are wondering whether this time I should have a credit check? Does anyone know what the checks for renting a house look for? Is it just to confirm the income you get or will it show that I am in debt?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Biglad!

I want to know exactly the same as you! I still live at home but want to move out but not sure about credit checks while on my DMP?

Also my partner is on his own DMP so not sure if we will ever have a chance to get our 'own' place. (he moved back home also after renting to sort himself out.

Please can anyone shed some light on the matter for us?

Try private landlords instead of Letting Agents

Private Landlords don't do Credit Checks!

Errrm, local papers or just have a look in newsagent's windows. Also look for local websites or forums, they'll have loads to suit you!

Added bonus, is that private landlords don't charge application fees!
