No benifit after NOV 21

Hi everyone, My first post so please bear with me. After being made redundant in April this year I have found it hard to find work. Anyway, the thing is that it is coming up to six months on Jobseekers allowance. This ends in Novemeber. I have been told I will NOT get anything else because my wife works more than 24 hours a week. I still sign on to keep my stamp right. I will be hurting as far as money goes and my mortgage is not insured, this happened a few years ago but its another story. Does anyone have anything to say that will help me or advice that is usable. As far as money in the bank is concerned I will be able to keep the wolf from the door for a couple of months and if no job comes then I will have to look at selling the house. I am well below the saving threashhold so that does not come into it. Council will not give me any rebate on council tax. Ok I will have to stop there cos I will start to ramble. But please any help is gratefully recived.
A toast for Christmas........
May the roof over your head never fall in and may the freinds under it never fall out.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Hi Raccon, if you could fill in an SOA (http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html), we can see if we could save you any money from your month to month expenses.
Is there any way that your wife could work a few more hours?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I am sorry about your situation and hopefully some of the peeps on here may be able to help you.

A SOA is a good place to start. Cutting your outgoings back to basics is essential especially with only one wage coming in.

You don't mention debts so is your concern more day to day living expenses?

Is there anything you can sell on Ebay/Amazon etc?

Have you been for many interviews? Can you maybe look for a different job inbetween times until you find the job for you?

  • Just a quick reply. Thanks to all who have replied quickly to me.
My wife works standardised hours so she cannot do any more. I will fill in the SOA form and see what things come out like.
    Thanks again to everyone.
