Hi
Went to the dentist recently after many years and he pulled a programme of work that I needed doing - costing a whopping £600!!!...ouch...should have gone when it was free!!!
I do not know much about dental plans, but is it worthwhil getting one which would cover the cost of this? How much would it cost? And is the dental plan covered by any dentist?
Also the surgery have their own plan - is it worth it?
£9.45 per month
• Clinical Examination (two per year)
• Screening for oral cancer
• X-Rays where clinically necessary
• Regular appointments to the dental hygienist (four per year) to include as clinically necessary:
• Preventative advice to reduce tooth decay and gum disease
• Plaque disclosure/Plaque scores
• Oral hygiene instruction
• Ultra-sonic/Hand scaling and polishing
• The ultimate ‘state of the Art' Airflow System stain remover
• Assessment of emergencies and dental pain with any temporary treatment required, carried out at the practice during normal surgery hours.
• Provision of any clinically necessary anti-biotics and painkillers (i.e. no prescription cost for these items)
• All treatment planning for your future dental well-being with the aid of the Caesy Interactive DVD System, and a visual explanation of treatment using intra-oral camera technology
• Production of study model when required
• Clinical photographs as required
• Fluoride application to prevent tooth decay and relieve sensitivity as appropriate
• 20% reduction off the cost of any laboratory-based treatments required i.e. crowns, bridges, veneers and dentures
• 20% reduction off the cost of any fillings
• 20% reduction off the cost of other dental work (extractions, root fillings etc.)
• Extended Payment Scheme available for treatments over £150
• Worldwide Trauma insurance to protect against large unforeseen accidental damage
• Emergency Call-Out insurance, should you need a dentist in an emergency

your dental surgerys plan sounds very good, our practice has something similar but costs £13 a month and you only get 10% off treatment -not 20%.
I assume they will give you the 20% off the treatment you need now?0 -
for £9 its alright, but the best plan i know of is denplan, because what you pay per month covers everything you have done EXCEPT lab costs, depending on what band youd fit in A being the best, E being the worst you could save a lot of money.
you would have to moved to a denplan dentist though, and, if you trust the dentist your with now, that is more important than saving money sometimes0
