how do I clean the iron - had an accident !

OK OK so I`m hoping i`m not the only one who has been daft enough to iron something that wasn`t supposed to be ironed.

Took it upon myself to iron a pillow protector and it melted and started to smoke. On the iron is a sticky residue which I can`t get off !!

Any one got any ideas of how to remove it ??

Heat the iron up. Get an old towel and bunch up the corner so that you have a hard lump. Wipe the iron plate with the lump, if it gets some of the stuff off then make another lump....etc and then rub really hard until the burnt stuff has gone.

i didn't realise how much non-cotton rubbish is in pillow protectors. i burnt all of mine in the tumble drier yesterday!!!! [not my tumbler, so left the laundrette quickly]
