Hi
wondering if anyone may be able to offer some advice..I recently filed my self assesment for tax year 07/08 online. Now in previous years ive done it paperwise and sent it however during that tax year i wasnt self employed and worked for a company on a PAYE scheme and earned way under the personal allowance for that year but paid over £400 in tax .my question simply is will i recieve that back and will it be done automatically? any replies would be seriously appreciated ...jim

At the end of your SA return it would have given you the figures - did it point to your being owed £400?
If so it will be refunded to you in whatever way you intimated on the form.0 -

Therein lies the problem i never had an option to input any figures as they said they automatically calculate tax for you and as i wasnt self employed the only earnings were through PAYE and as i said i never used up my PA for the year...0 -

My only earnings are through PAYE as well. I fill in a SA online each year as I have savings interest ect to declare. All figures are filled in. Why did you not fill in your figures for your PAYE job as it still counts?0 -
how about ringing your local tax office and speaking to an advisor there - i did that and they were very helpful0
