Hi I bought a laptop yesterday and it was one that had been returned to the store for a fault and had been repaired. Anyway the sales assistant convinced me it was a good deal, its a dell 1720 17" screen 2GB memory 120 hard drive.should I have just got a new one? Wot is the normal selling price of this? Does any one have one? Would I be better of returning it and getting something different maybe a Sony?thanks 4 any replies! Soo confused snd really want a laptop that will last!

Look on the Dell website and go through putting exactly the same specifications in - that's a good startpoint but often stores are cheaper than Dell these days and have their own specifications. As for changing the make - we use nothing but Dell in this house and always find them to be dependable, and I personally have had no trouble with their Customer Service (I always use the email route and they call you back if necessary!).What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

or £499.97 new from here

Those are just two random examples I found same model with same HD & RAM0 -
I love Dell laptops! I recently purchased another one from Dell's own online outlet shop. Not to be confused with the regular Dell website, the laptops in the outlet shop are usually brand new but are products which have simply been returned because of cancellations or specification changes. At the moment, they have some special offers on where you can get a discount of £55 (tick the relevant box at the checkout stage) and automatic free delivery (which usually costs £60) - but this is only until 23rd Oct.
