Baliff problem

Hi there, my first post here so be nice
Due to a mix of housing problems (with flatmates) and my own ignorance, I should have been on top of it but I wasn't I have had an outstanding amount with 2 companies which have passed the debt on to collection agencies, and again due to my own stupidity this has gone to court action and I have had letters about bailiffs coming to my house.
The two debs were for around £2000 and £1000 but the amount payable on the letters amounts to around £250 and £150, is this usual after a case has gone to court? Or maybe they have passed the debt to more than one comany in smaller parts?
Secondly what are people's experiences with bailiffs? Do you think I would still be able to push for a monthly payment plan? And if anyone can help point me in the direction of an income and expenditure form template I would much appreciate it.
Sorry if it's a little confusing and disjointed I'm just quite confused... Especially about the amounts.
